The need for machine safeguarding

Jan 22, 2010 in Business

When working with heavy machinery, what can be more important than safety? In years past machine shops had very few safe guards for their machines. It was not unheard off for shop workers to get seriously injured while running their machine. Hospital visits were common and many workers were injured so badly that they were no longer able to do their jobs.

As the years wore on the obvious need for machine safeguarding began to be addressed. One of the first machine guarding methods to be utilized was safety switches. Safety switches allowed the power to the machine to be cut immediately. This was extremely important since an employee in danger was no able to shut the machine off before serious damage could be done.

Safety switches were great, but unfortunately it was not always possible for the machine worker to access them when they were in trouble. This lead to the invention of flexible safety shields. These shields prevented shop workers from getting themselves into danger in the first place by keeping them away from the machine’s moving parts.

These safety shields led to machine guards, grinder guards, drill guards and mill guards. These new guards have greatly reduced the number of injuries suffered by shop employees. However, guards and switches cannot prevent all accidents. The workers themselves have to take it upon themselves to remember that safety is of the utmost importance.

When running a machine with so much power shop workers must always remember to keep their body away from all moving parts. Safety shields and switches can greatly reduce the number of injuries, but everyone in the shop has to take safety into their own hands.

Online Lessons for Guitar Playing

Tired of the old and conventional way of learning to play a guitar? Read all the guitar book and sofware reviews, and still not satisfied? If you really want to play the guitar but you don’t have anyone to guide you, the best advice could be trying online lessons.

First, you need a connection – obviously. Next on the list is your guitar. There are only two kinds to choose from – acoustic or electric. But above all, you need to have a goal and organize yourself. Remember that you are alone on this educative process. No teachers. No musical instructors. Nobody is present to comment on your mistakes and your fingering. So you have to be religious about it.

After establishing yourself in front of the computer monitor, guitar in hand, make sure you have all you need to proceed. Make sure that your computer has a fast and powerful online connection. Cable or DSL are great. If you’re learning on an acoustic guitar, which is preferred since it is cheaper and highly dependable; go to a site where acoustic lessons are taught. But if you have the money to purchase and learn on an electric guitar, perfect. Electric guitars are generally easier on the fingers.

Read the course descriptions and become detail oriented. Download important attachments and files in case you have forgotten a couple of things. Don’t rush the learning process. If you have difficulty with one step, focus on that weakness and practice it regularly. During the first weeks of tutorial things might get pretty messy and quite difficult. But as days progress; you’ll start to notice massive improvements.

An good online course includes information about different things like reading tabs the right way to put your fingers on the proper strings. Most courses also provide songs that are easy to play. What better way to learn than master something you truly love? If you get really lucky, you’ll be seeing yourself strengthening those strumming skills in a matter of weeks.

To compare the advantage and disadvantage of choosing an online tutorial, one of the benefits is that it is readily available. You can learn without the hassle of being locked up with a bunch of wannabes making their way through the music store. Another advantage is that an online tutorials are always updated. A disadvantage is the autonomy of the situation. You, and you alone, are the teacher as well as being the student.
